The Poetics of Printing & the Printing of Poetry
Broadsides from the Wells Book Arts 5/4-5/24

The Ink Shop Printmaking Center is excited to feature a selection of broadsides from the Wells Book Arts Visiting Writer Series. Wells College has hosted hundreds of writers over the years, many have been top figures in their field, including Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award recipients. Every poet's visit is commemorated with a hand-printed, limited-edition broadside, produced by the master printmakers at Wells College Press. The press was founded in 1941 by Victor Hammer, an internationally renowned figure in 20th-century graphic arts who was among the leading typographers, printers, and artists of his time.

Demonstration: During the opening reception, Richard Kegler, Director of Book Arts Center at Wells College, will demonstrate printing with his own P22 Blox modular type system which can build letterforms and abstract patterns
