Wells Book Arts

Wells Book Arts 4/6-5/26
In recent years the Ink Shop has been asked to host letterpress and bookbinding demos for writers visiting Ithaca during Spring Writes via CAP.  In anticipation of this event, we will showcase Wells Book Arts Center with an exhibit of letterpress broadsides produced at their studio. This will include demos and an artist talk. It will be a great way to connect Ithaca writers, artists and printmakers to what is happening in the Wells Book Arts studio. The Wells College Press was founded in 1939 by Victor Hammer and was active until 1948. It was re-established in order to continue Hammer's tradition of fine printing in the humanities. The Wells College produces books of contemporary and historical importance and normally publishes one to three books and six to ten broadsides a year.
