This course takes place over two weekends and provides time, exploration and assistance to create a complex and multiple run print. Photolithography is an aluminum plate that is covered with a photosensitive emulsion, and a positive is placed in contact with the plate and exposed to ultraviolet light. After development the plate is rolled up with ink and printed on a lithography press on fine art paper. The photolithography process, ink modification, drawing materials, and techniques such as changing color at the press and registration will be discussed in depth the first week of the class. Participants will bring drawings for a second print to expose and edition the following weekend. Participants are encouraged to explore drawing materials for exposing matrices, and different papers. Please come with a few sketches and be ready to experiment. Bring brushes, x-acto knives, and possible materials for exposure investigation. Final Print: 15” x 20”
