Students will each make a lidded box. Cloth and paper will be provided\, but students are encouraged to bring paper of their own choice to line the floor of the box. \nAny skill level is welcome. Above all making boxes requires an attention to detail and accuracy with measuring and cutting – skills anyone can develop. \nAdam Bryant earned his MFA from the University of Iowa Center for the Book. At the UICB\, his areas of focus were bookbinding\, book history\, letterpress printing and papermaking. Since 2022\, he has worked as a Senior Conservation Technician in the Cornell University Library Conservation Lab.

DESCRIPTION:Thursday 5/25    5 PM – 8 PM\nThursday 6/1    5 PM – 8 PM\nThursday 6/8    5 PM – 8 PM \n$135 non-associates / $114.75 associates ($75 for materials) \n\n\n \n\n\nCourse Fee\n\n\nPrice + $75 materials fee $210.00 USDAssociate Price + $75 materials $189.75 USDFirst Time Student Price + $75 materials $189.75 USD \n\n\n\n\n\n\nCopper plate etching is a process where a polished piece of copper is processed with either engraving or an acid bath with the intention of creating grooves and lines to hold ink. Ink is applied to the whole plate\, then carefully wiped down leaving the ink the grooves and lines. The plate is then ran through the press with a sheet of damp paper for the final print. \nIn this course we will cover the basic methods and techniques of etching\, as well as explore some “experimental” mark making approaches. The course is three days\, which will allow for enough time to get everyone to the printing stage of the process. In addition to the processes and techniques\, I will promote an exploration of imagery\, composition and themes because printmakers are artists too!

SUMMARY:Intro to Intaglio-Intensive | Julianne Hunter
DESCRIPTION:Saturday & Sunday\, 7/23-7/24\, 12pm-6pm   \n$180 non-associates / $153 associates ($75 for materials) \nCopper plate etching is a process where a polished piece of copper is processed with either engraving or an acid bath with the intention of creating grooves and lines to hold ink. Ink is applied to the whole plate\, then carefully wiped down leaving the ink the grooves and lines. The plate is then run through the press with a sheet of damp paper for the final print. \nIn this course we will cover the basic methods and techniques of intaglio\, including etching and drypoint\, as well as explore some “experimental” mark making approaches. The course is two days\, which will allow for enough time to get everyone to the printing stage of the process. In addition to the processes and techniques\, I will promote an exploration of imagery\, composition and themes because printmakers are artists too!
