The Flatback Case Binding is the quintessential hardcover book with sewn signatures adhered to the covers. In the first session, students will learn how to sew a series of signatures together. In the second session, we’ll construct the covers from binders’ board covered with bookbinding cloth and decorative paper. This is an intermediate-level class with some bookbinding experience recommended (at the Ink Shop or elsewhere).

Laura Rowley is book artist and educator based in Trumansburg and operates Illuminated Press, a micro press that crafts books by hand. Laura studied book arts at Wells College (BA) and The University of Alabama (MFA).
