We will try different techniques to create decorative paper that can be used for covering portfolios, books, presents or other paper projects. We will use simple stamping with vegetables and fruits, printing from linocut, and other material like strings, foams, etc. We will dab, spray, dye and learn how to make paste paper. Use the papers you make in this class to cover your own books in the Basic Book Structures Workshop.

The Mini Print International is a juried exhibition of prints no larger than 4” x 4”. The Exhibition has been held bi-annually since 1985 and was founded and directed by Bev McLean who sought to challenge artists and provide an affordable form in which international art could be brought together. The Ink Shop began organizing this exciting exhibit starting with 16th Mini Print International. Our Mini Print shows have attracted artists from around the world including Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Lithuania, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Uruguay as well as many artists from the United States.
These wonderful prints are displayed in 6” x 6" frames that make great gifts and can be available to take home during and after December 5th Mini Print Holiday Sale.
This workshop introduces students to the traditional craft of printing expressive, hand-drawn lines from copper plates. Over the span of four guided sessions, students will learn each step of the process—from preparing and grounding a 4x4” plate to drawing, biting, inking, and printing on the press. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas and imagery they’d like to explore. By the end of the course, students will have created a small edition of prints and a solid foundation in the intaglio technique.
This six‑week printmaking workshop offers a hands‑on exploration of multiple print processes, guiding participants through relief printing using linoleum, drypoint on plexiglass, and screenprinting. Each week focuses on building technical skills while encouraging experimentation and creative problem‑solving. In the final class, students will bring these techniques together to create a hybrid print, combining processes to develop a layered and personal finished work. Suitable for beginners and those with some printmaking experience, this workshop emphasizes process, versatility, and creative discovery.
This entry-level workshop will introduce participants to; making simple negatives for printing, safe and proper materials handling, paper preparation and coating, exposure, processing, and toning.
This exhibition explores the spaces where photography and print media intersect- where light becomes ink and images are transformed through hand-pulled techniques. Artists explore techniques like photo lithography, photo-screenprinting, photopolymer intaglio, and alternative photographic processes, among others, embracing hybrid approaches to image-making.
Bring your Valentine or create one! Learn how to construct articulating paper dolls from Cyanotype scraps, collaged paper, and other bits. Choose to free hand the doll or come prepared with a printed image of a person to trace and cut out. Perhaps you and your date can collaborate by first sketching an Exquisite Corpse! Supplies are provided though your own paper and doll accoutrements are always welcomed. An optional course to take before this workshop would be the Cyanotype workshop on February 1st. Create your own material to then use for the paper doll.
The Ink Shop is excited to present the work of Jessica Warner (Kahn Family Fellow) and Kat Moore (Fred Madden Fellow). Jessica explores movement, change and the passage of time through processes that involve accumulation, repetition and contradiction. Kat is showing sheer curtains layered with hand-drawn, screenprinted plaid and images of a particularly important moment of self-reflection. Drawing each line in the plaid is a repetitive action that reflects the nature of screenprinting.
This workshop is a fun family printmaking class. We will be painting stenciled mylar plates with water-based inks to create subtle and intricate monotype prints. This process allows you to paint quickly onto the mylar plates, then transfer the ink to dampened paper using an etching press. You will learn about ghost images, which can achieve wonderful effects with immediate results. This technique is completely non-toxic and the fee covers participation for 1 parent and elementary school age child.
Join us for a fun and creative 2-hour printmaking workshop designed for parents and children to explore the art of Tetra Pak printmaking! Using recycled Tetra Pak cartons as printing plates, you’ll learn how to emboss, ink, and transfer stunning images onto paper. This eco-friendly technique creates rich textures and beautiful prints while promoting sustainability and artistic expression.
